《扩频Amplifier——OCAT上海馆媒体艺术专号》是由OCAT上海馆发起的、以媒体艺术¹研究为学术方向的中英双语电子期刊。期刊将以OCAT上海馆官方网站及微信公众号（ocatshanghai）为主要发布平台，每年两期，每期以专题形式聚焦媒体艺术的某一特定问题领域，为媒体艺术及相关领域的研究者提供发言、讨论、推进思考的“论坛”，也为广大公众深入了解并参与媒体艺术实践提供尽可能多样的视角与工具。首期刊物以“亚洲媒体艺术”为专题，将面向国内外研究学者约稿，并公开征集相关研究性文章，计划于2021年正式上线。

自2012年成立以来，OCAT上海馆就专注于媒体艺术及建筑设计，通过展览、学术研究、国际交流、公共教育、出版等实践为媒体艺术不断注入新的话题与材料。电子期刊《扩频》将是OCAT上海馆在理论研究领域深化自身实践、拓展媒体艺术理论视野的一次尝试。

期刊欢迎关注媒体艺术领域的青年研究者投稿，同时也寻求相关领域的选题建议、文献资料分享等合作可能。欢迎通过微信公众号或邮件（[e-mail]）与我们取得联系。后续征稿启事将在公众号发布，敬请关注。

 ¹目前，关于“媒体艺术”（media art）并没有一个权威的定义，但基本上是指借助科技（technological）成分实现的艺术作品（所谓“媒体”指的则是任何用以传输或储存信息的介质）。在视听媒体方面进行尝试的媒体艺术创作，最早可追溯至19世纪“西洋镜”（zoetrope）发明的时期。而时下更流行的说法 “新媒体艺术”（new media art），从历史发展脉络与涵盖的创作类型来看，基本与“媒体艺术”等同，主要包括录像艺术、数码艺术、网络艺术、声音艺术、游戏、VR等形式。

Media Art Issue by OCAT Shanghai

Launched by OCAT Shanghai, Amplifier – Media Art Issue by OCAT Shanghai is a Chinese-and-English bilingual e-journal with an academic focus on media art². The e-journal will be published through the website and WeChat account (ocatshanghai) of OCAT Shanghai. Planned as a bi-yearly publication, each edition will probe into a particular subject in the field of media art, intending to carve out a “forum” for practitioners and researchers within the fields of media art and related disciplines to make their voices heard, exchange viewpoints and further their thinking. In the meantime, it also intends to offer alternative perspectives and tools for the public to get to know and involved in media art. The inaugural issue will feature “Media Art in Asia”. An open call will be launched to invite researchers from both China and abroad to submit their papers on this topic. The inaugural edition is scheduled to be published in 2021.

Since the establishment in 2012, OCAT Shanghai has always been focusing on media art and architectural design, and committed to imbuing new verve and contents into the fields via exhibitions, research, communication, education and publication. The e-journal Amplifier marks a new attempt OCAT Shanghai makes to further its exploration and broaden its vision in media art on the theoretical level.

We look forward to receiving submissions from young researchers who pay close attention to media art. In the meantime, we also seek for possible collaborations in terms of topic selection and archive sharing. You may contact us via our WeChat account or by email ([e-mail]). ²At the moment, there hasn’t been a universally accepted definition of “media art” yet. But generally speaking, it refers to artworks accomplished through technological means (and the so-called “media” refers to any medium to transmit or store information). Practice in the field of audio-visual media could be traced back to the 19th century when “zoetrope” was firstly invented. “New media art”, a more “hit” concept nowadays, could basically be seen as an equivalent to “media art” in terms of their historical developments and the genres they contain, which mainly include video art, digital art, internet art, sound art, game and VR.
